How your schools app can help with phonics

“Without the appropriate resources, it can be difficult for parents to know where to begin and without a nudge from the school, it can sometimes fall down the list of priorities in a busy household…”

Now that Spring has begun, it will soon be time to start preparing your pupils for the Phonics Key Stage 1 Screening Check. Many children could benefit from having extra phonics help at home. And, many parents would be more than happy to work with their children in the evenings to help improve their phonics understanding.  However, without the appropriate resources, it can be difficult for parents to know where to begin and without a nudge from the school, it can sometimes fall down the list of priorities in a busy household.

One of the great ways a communication app can be used is to pass along phonics resources and tools to parents; in the form of PDF’s or video links, for example. We have had many schools use this feature to quickly and easily link to helpful resources and have found that parents are more likely to click through from an app than an email buried in their inbox.

Half the battle when trying to get parents to engage with their child’s education is just in getting the message to them.  Parentapps Connect gives you the ability to not only send a push notification out to parents with the app, but you can also send SMS and email directly from the platform to those users who don’t have the app. By providing a one-stop shop for all communication, your school’s app can ensure that the message is being received in the first place.
