2019 a year in review: app improvements and plans for 2020
Parentapps Team
As 2019 draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to reflect on another exciting year here at Parentapps!
Since founding the company back in 2015, we’ve gone from strength to strength and this year has been no different – we’ve made some significant changes to the platform and implemented much-appreciated feedback from our users.

Parents us our app!

Some of our key achievements for 2019

This year, we were proud to launch our new Parentapps Connect App back in January. This is the first app we’ve launched in four years – so it was an exciting development for our whole team!

The new platform includes features suggested by our users to make the platform work even better for them. We highly value all our app feedback – the learnings we take from this feedback are instrumental in helping us develop and better the app functionality.

At Parentapps, we aim to deliver an app that saves our schools and academies time and money while helping improve parental engagement. So it’s great that we’ve been able to include new and exciting features into our latest version of the app.

We have now successfully migrated over 400 schools, nurseries and organisations from our old app across to our brand new platform. We hope this new platform offers users the best possible experience for both our schools and our 100,000-strong cohort of busy parents now using our app to make school communications even more accessible.

So what are our plans for 2020?

Our plans don’t slow down for 2020 – that’s for sure! We have a range of exciting updates planned for the year.

Updates to the app are imminent, with improvements being made to our electronic form system.

These improvements will enable both schools and academies to view who has/has not filled in a form sent through the app. The update will allow the school to resend the form to those who have yet to respond. This means the need to submit further notifications or alerts to parents who have already replied is no more!

This update will also enable schools to message parents from a mobile device – so there’s no need to rush back to your computer if you need to respond quickly. Mobile functionality is something we have heavily invested in to make the app even more accessible to anyone who needs to use it.

With our nation slowly adapting to cashless systems, it’s crucial for us to move with trends and to offer the most modernised version of our school communications app, that’s why we’re hoping for 2020, we will be able to offer in-app payment functionality.

We are currently in the final stages of a strategic partnership with a leading payment provider. This partnership will allow parents to pay for items such as school meals, trips out, breakfast and after school clubs – with ease. They’ll be no need for parents to carry cash with them for these items.

As if that wasn’t enough for 2020! We will also be working hard on our new parent booking system. This system can take care of booking all kinds of events, including parents evening and after school clubs.

Our school communication app aims to improve communication between schools and parents – so we always welcome feedback from both parents and schools.
